What is the process?
First you fill out an inquiry by clicking CONTACT. From there we usually set up a consultation either in our office or over the phone. We like to hear likes / dislikes about the current work in our portfolio and really find out what kind of couple you are. This includes an extensive Q&A form that allows us to know as much as possible about your wedding but of course we specialize in on-the-fly changes so we expect as with any live event, anything is possible! From there, we come out and film the wedding and then post production begins. Post production usually takes 3-4 months for the full project to be completed. Wedding Trailers and demo DVDs are sometimes released earlier, but we never rush the editing of a wedding. This is a video that years from now will take you back to one of the happiest days of your life, so we take our time and make sure to deliver the best possible product.
How involved can the client be?
As much as you want! You are welcome to give your input on any aspect of the production, after all this is your video! We want you to be happy with the product and we will do whatever we can to accommodate any requests.
What is the minimum package we can book?
The minimum package we book is currently our “The Trailer HD” package.
How do you capture audio?
This is one of the most asked questions from all of our clients. We use wireless microphones as well as microphones that we plug directly into small PCM high end audio recorders to capture all of the audio during the ceremony so no matter where we are in the room filming, we get good clear audio of the vows and other things that might be said or songs that might be sang. We also use portable field recorders to capture live band audio, and toasts allowing for the best possible audio of those events as well. Overall, we are looking for 3 solid clear audio sources at any given time to ensure that even if something changes, we have a backup and a backup of that backup.
Can I change a package?
Absolutely. The deposit is the same no matter what package you book. Packages can be changed up until shortly before the wedding. We also offer a variety of add-on services that allow you to customize any package.
Why The Wedding Theater?
We have two very important goals that we strive hard to live by here at The Wedding Theater. First of all, we want to be very up front about everything. If you request something, we will try our best to do it, and if we can’t do it we will tell you. We also try to stay away from terms like “Starting At” and “Request a Quote” because at the end of the day, this is your wedding we are talking about. We want to make the business side of what we do quick and easy so we can move on to getting to know you.
Second, we want to capture moments as they happen naturally, so when you watch the movie, you’ll relive those moments and the emotion years and years from now. Those are the two most important goals for our company. The Wedding Theater is comprised of professionals that are full-time cinematographers and don’t have any other source of income. A lot of wedding vendors are part-time and do weddings as a “weekend gig”. With that thought in mind, every one of clients is our way of life and that completely changes our commitment to providing you with exactly what you are looking for. We also work around the thought that a Team is better than a single individual. What happens if your wedding is a week away and John Doe from “John Doe Videography” breaks his leg? At The Wedding Theater, no one person defines our work. Our Team is equally qualified in all the areas of wedding videography from filming, to lighting, to audio, and editing. We think all these things set us apart from others.
Do you have liability insurance?
Absolutely. The equipment we bring is top-notch and costs a pretty penny. We also can provide proof of insurance to venues (more and more venues require it) for peace of mind.
How do you work with photographers?
Being cohesive with the photographers you choose is one of the most important aspects of us getting our job done. There’s a folk tale about how videographers and photographers don’t get along, but I think that’s a thing of the past. We recommend a few photographers out of the hundreds we have worked with that perhaps go above and beyond to make our jobs seamless, but rarely do we ever come across a photographer that we can’t get along with. We have the same common goal right? Further, we reach out to photographers before your wedding to introduce ourselves and ensure that we are all on the same team.
What does it take to reserve The Wedding Theater for our date?
As of 2012, The Wedding Theater is only booking one (1) wedding per week. We have made this change in an effort to provide event better wedding films in a timely manner. Because we only reserve one wedding per week, we require a $1500 non-refundable deposit to reserve a date for a wedding.
How long will it take for me to see a demo of my wedding video?
As a full-time wedding videography company, The Wedding Theater usually has a few weddings to edit in queue at the time your wedding is filmed. With that in mind, we typically need around 3-4 months to complete our post production process. There are certainly seasons within the wedding industry and from time to time (around the holidays for example) it can take a little longer, and sometimes at the beginning for a wedding season it can be less, but we promise a great product, tailored to your specifications, and we will communicate with you throughout the whole process so as to keep you informed of the status. You are always welcome to email during that time to check in as well.
What is the TWT File Vault?
Since everything we film these days is digital, there’s no “Mastertape” to stick on a shelf. We could certainly have a drive for every client collecting dust here at the studio, but why not just allow you to have it? For the cost of an external hard-drive ($100) we will hand you all of our editing files on that drive. The TWT File Vault is located on the hard drive you receive once the final DVDs are complete along with digital versions of your movies that you can put on your computer. This means that in a few years, if you decide you want another DVD or you find your taste changes and you want something different a few years ahead, you can bring your drive with the File Vault back to us and we can make those changes! You can also take the drive and store it in a safety deposit box or wherever you might store photo albums. Its rte ally a great insurance policy to have in case something were to ever happen to your DVD’s. Quick note: We do recommend not playing around with the files unless you are familiar with Final Cut Pro.
