Hello all! My name is Alexandria Walters, and I am the first official female intern for 1023 Media and The Wedding Theater (quite excited about that!) here in Austin, TX and, I’m posting my first blog EVER.

Being that I just landed this internship at 1023Media/The Wedding Theater this summer, I had lots of interest in Media ( I want to be an actress/journalist), and of course lots of interest in weddings ( I am a woman, duh), but I don’t have lots of expertise in either subject yet.

So being the journalist and curious girl that I am, I started my research. Flipping through the pages of the June 2010 issue of Brides, The Knot and the summer 2010 issue of Get Married, I found lots of interesting articles.

What I thought to be the most interesting was the new trends that are hot right now in Texas, using some inspiration that you maybe wouldn’t think of. The article “Translating the Trends” in the Summer 2010 issue of Get Married, highlights four new trends for weddings, and I added one of my own, that I think is quite pertinent to Texas.

1. Peacock–use these feathers to add to a hair-do or even in your bouquet. Accent your invitations, and thank-you notes with the design as well.

2. Dandelions–make your whole wedding themed around this cute, little flower. www.mc2jewels.com, even has dandelion rings for your bridesmaids to wear!

3. Stars–go glam with everything stars! Put them in your invitations, get star earrings and necklaces, even accent your cake and reception with stars everywhere.

4. Fleur de Lis–make your wedding royal with this regal design. There really is no limit to what you can do with the Fleur de Lis ( napkin rings, on the cake, in jewelry, on invitations, etc. )

5. Western–every cowgirl has her day, and make yours special with a Western Themed wedding. Get bridesmaids to dress in Western, and make sure to remember your boots.

These are all just short little tips. This was my first blog, so bear with me! Keep checking out The Wedding Theater and 1023media for more blogs all summer long!
